Have your Pastor get in the fun on this one!

Leader

Well good morning boys and girls. Today I wanted to talk to you about respect.

Pastor

Escuse me Ms. Cindy. I’d like to speak to the children this morning if you don’t mind.

Leader

Well, wow, Brother Randy, I appreciate your wanting to help, but it’s actually my job to talk to the kids on Sunday morning.

Pastor

Yeah, but I have something really important that I want to say to the children.

Leader

Well, Brother Randy, you need to understand that I was hired to be the children’s director.

Pastor

I know, I hired you.

Leader

Oh. So I don’t think you should be doing my job.

Pastor

Okay, I just wanted to talk to them about a passage in Romans 13.

Leader

Brother Randy, you just sit down and rest yourself for a spell.

Pastor

All right.

Leader

Okay. You know, sometimes he acts like he’s the boss. Oh, you know what? He IS the boss. I guess that I just forgot that!

Leader

And did he say that he wanted to talk to you about Romans 13? Ohh.. I was just reading Romans 13 this morning and you know what it was about? It’s all about respecting authority.

Now people that are in authority are the people that are over us; the ones that are our bosses. So as you start a new school year, you have a new boss. Right? You have a new teacher. Everybody know your teachers’ name? Yes? On the count of 3, I want you to say your teacher’s name. One-two-three, go.

Good, good. So in just a minute, I’m going to read the scripture that Brother Randy was talking about and let’s insert our name or our teacher’s name. When I tell you to say your name, I’m going to point to you. Right? So lets practice. When I point to you, what do you say? You say your name. Ready, go. Okay, good, you are the only one listening. Very good. When I point to you, I want you to say your name, and when I point to the sky, I want you to say your teacher’s name.

It is important that, (point to kids, they will say their name) submit to the authorities that have charge over us because God establishes all authority in Heaven and on earth. Therefore, if you rebel against (point to the sky and the children say their teacher’s name), ... if you rebel against your teacher against the order she has established, then (point to the children so they say their name) can expect to face certain judgement. You see, if (say your name) does the right thing, she has nothing to be worried about. But if (point to the children so they will say their name) does what is wrong, then (point to the sky so the children will say the teacher’s name ) will make sure that you pay a price. Wouldn’t you rather listen with a clear conscience than always have to look over your shoulder? Then (say your name) keep doing what you know is good and right and (point to the sky and say your teacher’s name) will publicly honor you.

All that we just talked about is the fact that we have people that are over us that we should show respect to and God has put them in the place of honor and we should always give them respect. So think about that when your teacher ask you to do something tomorrow. Give her the respect that she deserves and then she will publicly honor you. Isn’t that great?

Lets have a word of prayer. Dear Heavenly Father, Help us to respect our teachers and help us to respect our parents. Amen.
